One Pot Chicken and Dumplings Stew

To me, there is no comfort food like this One Pot Chicken and Dumpling Stew! This cozy classic warms the soul and is perfect for any chilly winter day!

Ingredients

  • 2-4 chicken breasts whole, bone-in
  • 2-3 cloves garlic whole
  • 1 cup self rising flour
  • 6 tbsp milk
  • 2 tbsp butter melted
  • salt and pepper to taste
  • butter for serving

Instructions

  • Place chicken breasts in a large pot and fill with enough water to cover.
  • Add salt and garlic to water with chicken and stir.
  • Boil chicken breasts for 20-30 minutes or until meat is cooked through and tender.
  • Remove chicken breasts from broth and remove chicken from bone.
  • Cut chicken into bite size pieces and return to broth to simmer while dumplings are prepared.
  • While chicken simmers, combine flour, melted butter, and milk in a medium bowl.
  • Once a dough has formed, roll dough out onto a floured surface and cut into thin strips.
  • Drop strips into hot broth, cover, and cook for 10 minutes.
  • Once dumplings have cooked, ladle into bowls, dot each serving with butter, add salt and pepper to taste, serve and enjoy!
